Our Mission

Spectrumotion is a nationally recognized private, nonprofit Transportation Management Association (TMA) formed to reduce traffic congestion in the Irvine Spectrum. The TMA promotes, markets and subsidizes alternatives to solo commuting for those employed in the Irvine Spectrum and assists the business community in complying with trip reduction related requirements.

Spectrumotion's programs and leadership contribute to the environmental well-being, positive image and enhanced desirability of the Irvine Spectrum to existing and prospective businesses, their customers, and their employees.

Historical Perspective

The formation of Spectrumotion, formally known as the Irvine Spectrum Transportation Management Association, represents a milestone in transportation management. In 1985, the City of Irvine and The Irvine Company, in the true spirit of public private partnership, devised an overall transportation management strategy and monitoring system in the Irvine Spectrum. This plan details acceptable levels of traffic generation and called for the formation of a Transportation Management Association (TMA) to monitor traffic levels and provide traffic mitigation programs and services. To insure the success of this concept, deed restrictions known as Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions (CC&R's) were created which require Irvine Spectrum property owners to support the operation of the TMA financially through semi-annual assessments. This is how Spectrumotion can offer all its services to commuters free of charge. In 1986, Spectrumotion opened its doors as a private, non profit, public benefit corporation and began a successful history of meeting the transportation needs of the Irvine Spectrum.
